Legacy & Promise Promenade

A large group of diverse people gathered together in a spacious indoor venue, smiling and raising their hands, with round tables covered with teal tablecloths and set with plates and utensils in the background.

I served as the fundraising consultant for a $2M capital campaign to develop the Central District Legacy & Promise Promenade - a long-overdue community vision designed by and for the neighborhood. The project engaged 16 diverse artists with deep roots in the Central District to create original public art that will be featured upon the park’s completion.

I provided guidance to the volunteer leadership team through every stage of the campaign: from building a clear fundraising roadmap, to navigating complex grant applications, to engaging both institutional and individual supporters. The majority of funds were raised through competitive foundation and corporate grants, with additional support from major donors and community-level gifts.

Beyond fundraising strategy, I helped orchestrate a series of artist talks at a local venue, where residents had the chance to meet the artists and hear about their inspirations and visions. These events not only celebrated the artists but also deepened community pride and investment in the project’s success.

The campaign exceeded its $2M private fundraising goal, and the project broke ground in 2025. An enduring testament to community-led vision, cultural preservation, and the power of collaborative fundraising.
